Time is ticking...

Oh my goodness... the dawning realisation that we have less than 6 weeks before we leave Blighty has suddenly hit! I have spent the day packing, unpacking, recycling, taking to the charity shop and throwing out. Then stacking boxes and suitcases. The house is starting to feel very empty of our bits and bobs, but also now feeling that we have too much stuff anyway. Does one really need 12 wooden spoons and 35 ramekins!

There is still so much to do but anyway here is  a "Progress Update"
  • In transit and travel visas have been acquired for the USA and Australia. Visas for China and India are pending.
  • David, Rowan and I have finished our travel jabs, we have had tetanus, polio, typhoid and Hep A. 2 sore arms each but had to be done. Tiegan still has Hep A to go.
  • We have a prescription for anti malarials to take while we are in Borneo, China and India. Massively complicated calculations depending on which drug is being taken. Malarone is the only option for the girls, which is obviously the most expensive and calculated on body weight. This one is taken 2 days before entering the malarial zone, for the duration of the visit and 7 days after. David and I will take Doxycycline, which is cheaper - but has more possible side effects. Great! On the plus side it does contain some anti biotic which means that it may fight any bugs we pick up. Sadly we will have to take them for 28 days after we leave the malarial zones!
  • Fingers crossed - we now have a foster home for the dogs! Hurray! A couple of trial runs to do but hopefully they are now sorted.
  • Overnight hotels booked for Heathrow and LA.
  • Post redirect forms are filled in and ready to be sent off.
  • Farewell/Birthday party date sorted!
Still to do...

  • Rent out the house (this is a big deal and affects our spend per day budget while we are away)
  • Finish the packing up.
  • Choose and buy a 10 inch netbook so we can keep in touch and blog while we are away.
  • Book our first few days accommodation in Fiji.
  • Book Air Asia flights for the transits between Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu (Borneo), back to Kuala Lumpur and then to Chennai, India.
  • Make copies of all our documents and store these with people at home and electronically  - just in case!
  • Make a list of contacts in each location.
P.S.... I didnt really find 35 ramekins!

    1. The Samsung N130 or N150 netbooks are excellent. I just bought 25 at work after evaluating several different netbooks. Good value and good battery life etc.
