day 104 Beijing 6 October Thurs

It is finally time to leave our "magic doorway" in Beijing and before we leave we add our contribution to the traveller's wall.
We arrive at Beijing West with our "soft seat" tickets dreading the next 16 hours. David disappears to the ticket office to see if there have been any cancellations and reappears half an hour later with new tickets, soft sleepers! Yay! BUT we have a 6 hour wait as it will be a later train. We decide to stay put, rather than trying to find a mall or similar which may have more pleasant surroundings, and plan to make our usual "nest" for a few hours. We spy the "pay" waiting lounge and, lured by the "private washrooms" and the fact that it has seats and a strict "no smoking" policy, we pay the 80p an hour for it's hospitality.
We are even called and escorted to the train platform!
