A sort out kind of day - bags are unpacked, sorted and repacked and we potter down to breakfast. A bit of a hit and miss affair, but Rowan atleast is relieved to find that the bread is not sweet like in China and so consumes large quantities of toast, butter and water melon.
We venture into the old part of the city and hit "temple strip" visiting several beautiful and ornate buildings along the way.
The pace here couldnt be more different to China, everything feels more laid back, more relaxed and the people we meet are utterly charming.
Both girls found it highly amusing that within the grounds of the Buddhist University there was an ice cream cart - because even Monks like ice cream!
We brave a new form of transport to take us across town when the humidity gets too much and tempers are fraying - the... all for 80p. Thai lunch at the food court in the basement, a supermarket shop and then home in a Tuk Tuk... a deal is done and we set off, the driver takes great delight in slaloming down the ramps and over the speed bumps and seems to feed off the squeals and giggles of the passengers holding on for dear life in the back! We were slightly apprehensive as we had heard and read many tales of tuk tuk scams and rip offs but we are delivered safely through the traffic and back to the front door. The rest of the day is spent by the pool and planning the next few days.
