Day 61 Aug 24 Wed Port Douglas and Daintree

After a better than expected first night we head north again to the Daintree River and saltwater crocodile territory. Some of the real highlights of our trip so far have involved wildlife and today is no exception.
We buy a 2 for 1 ticket which means we can have 2 cruises on different parts of the river and after a picnic lunch we board the little boat. Straight away we can see a large female croc snoozing on the opposite bank and get an even closer look as we start our tour.

The second boat trip of the day is further downstream near the cable ferry crossing to Cow Bay and Cape Tribulation. North of this point there are may unsealed roads and no mains electricity.
Again we see several large crocs and spend a very enjoyable couple of hours on the river learning about these amazing creatures and the habitat here. We decide not to head any further north, we had considered crossing and heading to Cape Trib, but worried about the perennial too much to fit in and not enough days, we journey back to Port Douglas for a second night. The evening routine is slightly slicker... but not by much!
